Congratulations Adele for winning SIX Grammys! Music wins!
My only question is: why the hell did Chris Brown perform twice & Whitney Houston only receive half-of-a-song tribute?

Covering Adele is a tough thing to do… but Monday night on The Voice, newcomer Angel Taylor served up a tasty dish of Someone Like You. Raw, emotional and with a twist of her unique sound. Bravo, Angel. Hope to hear more great things from this singer!

2011 is nearly over… and Emeli Sande is just getting started. Coming in early 2012, the incredibly talented songwriter (Leona Lewis, Cheryl Cole) & singer will release her first studio album, Our Version of Events. Though born Adele Emeli Sande, the Scottish singer stage name is ‘Emeli’ due to the high success of UK singer Adele. She felt that Adele had ‘taken the name’ and didn’t want to compete with that. Her second single, Daddy, comes after her recent #1 UK Chart Topping success with Read All About It. Expect more from this rising artist next year!

Javier Colon may have won the first season of The Voice, but Dia Frampton always had a special place in the hearts of many fans, including myself. And to be honest, I was not all that impressed with Javier’s first single As Long As We Got Love. Even featuring Natasha Bedingfield made it a pretty ‘eh’ song. The first single from Dia (though she was in a duo group with her sister for years…) is right up there with the heartbreaking lyric stylings of Adele and even a touch of country (Blake Shelton influence perhaps?) to the likes of Lady Antebellum, with a side of Brandi Carlile. At any rate, it’s a perfect song of the autumn. I hope she continues to turn out more gems such as this. What do you think?

Obsession of the week: Emeli Sande´ - new singer from the UK. She’s a true combination of the soul of Jill Scott, the smoothness of Leona Lewis (who she is writing songs for her next album) and the rawness & honesty of Adele. Truly talented. I’ve got Heaven (available on iTunes) & Easier In Bed (demo) on repeat currently, but her song Maybe is a true testament of her beautiful vocals and intense soul and transparency. It’s rumored that Easier In Bed was written for Christina Aguilera’s next album, most likely to drop sometime in 2012. Emeli’s first studio album, Our Version of Events, is anticipated to be released sometime in November of this year.
