Flashback Friday: Darren Hayes Who Would Have Thought

Genius!  One of my favorite tracks from the 2007 album, This Delicate Thing We’ve Made.  Darren seems to always be ahead of the game.

Flashback Friday: Grammy Nominated singer-songwriter Dido has been off the scene for awhile.  Her previous albums have not had the success or impact as her debut album No Angel.  Not to say that she hasn’t been successful or hard at work, but No Angel has stayed on top of my favorite albums she’s put out.  I’m hoping with the release of her fourth album this year, the angelic-voiced woman that mesmerized me on tracks like My Life Take and Take My Hand will make a strong comeback.  She definitely gave us a taste of what’s to come with Everything To Lose, from the Sex & the City 2 soundtrack.

Flashback Fridays is here!  And if you’re one to smoke up a little, perhaps you can tell me what the hell this video has to do with this song!  Who could ever forget this classic 90’s smash hit by the New Radicals?

FLASHBACK FRIDAY

Already five years ago, P!nk’s platinum selling I’m Not Dead is still an album necessary for anyone’s music library.  The highest charting single within the American music market up to this point in her career, U + Ur Hand is an infectious, sing-a-long song that I have still not grown tired of.  With it’s quirky & racy lyrics, the song became controversial with a lot of radio stations, refusing to play it because of its reference to masturbation.  Even when asked to perform on American Idol, P!nk was asked to change the lyrics from U + Ur Hand to U + Ur Heart.  Her response?

“You want me to rewrite my song for you. For American fucking Idol? What does that even mean, how do you have sex with your heart?”.

She ended up performing Who Knew instead.  Just another reason to love P!nk.

Flashback Friday: Mike + Mechanics “The Living Years”

One of the most widely covered and well known lyrical songs, The Living Years tells the heart wrenching relationship of Mike Rutherford of Mike & The Mechanics and his father.  You may recall that Rutherford was one of the founding members of the very successful Genesis.  Recorded in 1988, it quickly became a top ten chart hit around the world, including a four week stint at #1 in the US.  It’s been recently covered by the Cast of Glee, Straight No Chaser, and second season Australian X Factor winner Altiyan Childs.  This is a must for everyone’s music library, no matter the age.

Flashback Friday: Xscape

In honor of the only Housewife who’s music doesn’t want to make us do this, we’ve dedicated today’s Flashback Friday to Kandi Burruss, our favorite member of the 90’s girl R&B group Xscape.  She just debuted her new video for Leave U, a vulnerable ballad that takes on the old school style of R&B with a fresh twist.  See both videos below.
