Obsession of the week: Emeli Sande´ - new singer from the UK. She’s a true combination of the soul of Jill Scott, the smoothness of Leona Lewis (who she is writing songs for her next album) and the rawness & honesty of Adele. Truly talented. I’ve got Heaven (available on iTunes) & Easier In Bed (demo) on repeat currently, but her song Maybe is a true testament of her beautiful vocals and intense soul and transparency. It’s rumored that Easier In Bed was written for Christina Aguilera’s next album, most likely to drop sometime in 2012. Emeli’s first studio album, Our Version of Events, is anticipated to be released sometime in November of this year.

Poor Kelly - her fans are definitely hungry. It’s officially leaked! Mr. Know It All will be making its debut via the web Tuesday (but not available on iTunes until September 15th!). It’s Kelly Clarkson’s first single off her fifth studio album, Stronger. I am digging the jam (again another song about her broken heart, an asshole boyfriend…) and it’s not as dance-driven like most songs these days. It’s a good blend. What do you think of the new single?

We believed every word she wrote, and it would sink in deep when she sang them. Amy paved the way for artists like me and made people excited about British music again whilst being fearlessly hilarious and blase about the whole thing. I don’t think she ever realized just how brilliant she was and how important she is, but that just makes her even more charming. Although I’m incredibly sad about Amy passing, I’m also reminded of how immensely proud of her I am as well — and grateful to be inspired by her. Amy flies in paradise. -Adele
