Guess who sings along with Kelly Clarkson on The Sun Will Rise! Its famous singer-songwriter Kara DioGuardi (P!nk’s ‘Sober’, Carrie Underwood’s ‘Mama’s Song’). I appreciate & respect her so much more. Check out this amazing acoustic version ofKatherine McPhee’s, Terrified. Kara was the songwriter, along with Jason. She knows how to write a good tune, don’tcha think?

2011 is nearly over… and Emeli Sande is just getting started. Coming in early 2012, the incredibly talented songwriter (Leona Lewis, Cheryl Cole) & singer will release her first studio album, Our Version of Events. Though born Adele Emeli Sande, the Scottish singer stage name is ‘Emeli’ due to the high success of UK singer Adele. She felt that Adele had ‘taken the name’ and didn’t want to compete with that. Her second single, Daddy, comes after her recent #1 UK Chart Topping success with Read All About It. Expect more from this rising artist next year!

Javier Colon may have won the first season of The Voice, but Dia Frampton always had a special place in the hearts of many fans, including myself. And to be honest, I was not all that impressed with Javier’s first single As Long As We Got Love. Even featuring Natasha Bedingfield made it a pretty ‘eh’ song. The first single from Dia (though she was in a duo group with her sister for years…) is right up there with the heartbreaking lyric stylings of Adele and even a touch of country (Blake Shelton influence perhaps?) to the likes of Lady Antebellum, with a side of Brandi Carlile. At any rate, it’s a perfect song of the autumn. I hope she continues to turn out more gems such as this. What do you think?

Latest obsession: Birdy cover of Postal Service District Sleeps Alone
This amazingly talented singer-songwriter from England is only 15 years old and already wowing critics and audiences across the globe. She’s got one of those ‘old-soul voices’ that will have your heart melting and tears falling from your eyes. Her first self-titled debut album was just released on November 4, 2011. It’s absolutely brilliant!
Favorite tracks: Comforting Sounds, People Help the People, White Winter Hymnal, Fire & Rain (cover of James Taylor)

Get ready to cry, come 2:45. Listen to this beautiful, heart-felt gem of a song by Daniella Mason ft. Chase Foster. I’d suggest taking in The Letter in a quiet room, or the privacy of your car - because it is a tear jerker.
For fans of: Sara Bareilles, Damien Rice, Ray LaMontange, Christina Perri

We believed every word she wrote, and it would sink in deep when she sang them. Amy paved the way for artists like me and made people excited about British music again whilst being fearlessly hilarious and blase about the whole thing. I don’t think she ever realized just how brilliant she was and how important she is, but that just makes her even more charming. Although I’m incredibly sad about Amy passing, I’m also reminded of how immensely proud of her I am as well — and grateful to be inspired by her. Amy flies in paradise. -Adele

One of the first interviewees for Wonky Pop was indie California Country singer-songwriter Katelyn Clampett. I’m behind the times too because she released a good southern-comfort EP awhile back and I’m just now getting it on Wonky Pop. This acoustic cover of the title track Strictly Business has a nice edge to it and showcases a truly talented artist. Hopefully we’ll get in a follow up interview with Ms. C soon. Strictly Business available on iTunes now.

If Dolly Parton & Jewel had a baby, she’d sing like Lindi Ortega. Flawless.
Thanks for the comparison baby maker Mark!
