To this day, still one of my favorite punk/alternative bands.  Much love, #Yellowcard.

Yellowcard is BACK!  Already climbing the charts, For You and Your Denial has landed on the #35 spot on iTunes.  Directly from the mouths of one of the most energetic bands I know:

Today is the day everyone! The first new Yellowcard song in three years is out!  “For You, and Your Denial” is the first release from our new record, When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes.  The track is streaming right now exclusively at www.absolutepunk.net and is also available for purchase on iTunes.  We are all so excited to finally give you all some new music.  We worked so hard on this new record, and this is just a preview of what you can expect when you get the full album on March 22nd, 2011.   Tell everyone you know that Yellowcard is back!  Enjoy the tune.

Newsflash: Yellowcard announces release date of new album!

Yellow-what some of you might be saying, but I have a very large soft spot for the altpunk band Yellowcard.  I’ve eagerly awaited to hear about their new album release and finally, the wait is over!  It’s hard to believe that the incredible Paper Walls was released more than three years ago and we’ve had no new material of the Jacksonville, Florida native’s band since.  Yellowcard is going to lead the pack of altpunkrock bands for 2011 to be a year of substance, not just noise.  In a recent posting on their site, they gave us these lyrics to the lead song The Sound of You and Me:
Someday, everything ends.
Can we begin
Finding a way back before we’re too late
And lost in between
the truth and the dream?
I’ve never been more ready to move on.

When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes has a set release date of March 21, 2011 (though still wondering when the single will come out!). They’ll be touring the US with All Time Low.  Looks like March is going to be a great month!

Though the sound quality is quite shit, take a listen to For You and Your Denial below.

Maybe I’m an emo kid at heart

One of the best alternative-rock-punk bands to see live (their energy is incredible), is going to be back in the studio on September 20th after a two year hiatus to start recording their next album.  This will be their seventh studio album since the band’s formation in 1997.  The album is expected to be released sometime in early 2011.  I. Cannot. Wait.  I.  Die.

Thursdays Album You Can’t Live Without

Those that really know me may even be surprised by the fact that Yellowcard is one of my favorite bands to date.  I saw these guys 3 times in 2008, during their Paper Walls tour.  I couldn’t get enough of their energy, their odd group of followers or their music.  By no means are they the most talented band out there but I have not been to a concert to date that has possessed the pure energy that was pouring off of a stage.  They’ve always had it.  After a 10 year run, they are currently on a “hiatus” and we all know what that usually means- ‘we’re done.’  If they are, so be it.  They ended their great career on top of the world.  If they come back, I’ll be right there with them, cheering them along, every step of the way.

Ryan Key, the bleached blond lead singer has joined up with another fellow and formed the band “Big If.”  I’ve heard some of their stuff on myspace and YouTube and it’s really great- still has that Yellowcard fan appeal.  Not sure when they will tour or release an EP or full album… not much news on their myspace.  Let’s hope something soon!

Paper Walls is definitely an album, from beginning to end, is outstanding and NEEDS to be a part of your music collection.  Though “Only One” was the mark of Yellowcard on the radio charts, this album takes the cake.  Give it a chance, won’t you? Listen to “Date Line (I Am Gone)”, “Light Up the Sky,” and “Shadows & Regrets” (one of my ultimate favorites).
