Fans of ‘The Voice’ are getting a special treat this week, as a studio collaboration between Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green — recorded long before they signed up to co-star on their hit NBC series — finally sees the light of day.

‘Nasty’ surfaced online recently, and when Green dropped by Jimmy Fallon’s late-night show this week, the ‘F—- You’ hitmaker confirmed the existence of the previously unreleased recording, which you can hear below.

“We did a song together about a few years ago,” Green said. “It actually was supposed to make the ‘Burlesque’ soundtrack, but it didn’t make it…I’ve been seeing people tweet about it lately, so I think they’re going to release it.”  Let’s hope they do.  Christina needs to make another album before 2011 is done.  We need the real VOICE to give us some greatness.

Since ‘Dirrty’ (2002) was one of the more notorious moments in Aguilera’s career, it’s understandable why a single titled ‘Nasty’ might have been reconsidered and shelved, particularly as the former Mouseketeer was attempting to launch her feature film career with ‘Burlesque.’ But the vocals are, no surprise, impressive.

Though I loved Flesh Tone, it’s nice to hear Kelis embrace her younger days, when her songs were flooded with slow R&B beats.  A recent leak, Guilty, will have you hoping Kelis will release a new album, similar in style to I Don’t Think So.  Come on Kelis, share with us your 2011 version of Milkshake already.  Or at least give us a Bossy 2.0.  Music seems to be in a severe place of transition right now - last year we were flooded with dance and electronic beats.  Will this year be the same or will we slow it down a bit?

Leak: Natalia Kills “Activate My Heart” (Music Video)

Update: Cherrytree Records has confirmed that this is not the official video for Activate My Heart.  An official clip of the new video should be released next week.  Stay tuned!

Though Activate My Heart will not be included on Natalia Kills Perfectionist album, it was released as a promotional single.  It was the second single released after Zombie in April of this year.  Upon first glance, it’s pretty evident that the dark pop princess was involved with the production and direction of the unreleased video.  The Robert Miles synth undertones make this song truly addictive.  Hoping this song will be included as a bonus track on Kills album debut.  Perhaps 2011 will be the year of Kills?

Thanks Weinerbrow!

out of the vault: Lady Gaga

Though I’m about eight months late on this, I just discovered this little gem by Lady Gaga and Midway State.  It’s a cover of Peter Gabriele & Kate Bush’s “Don’t Give Up,” which is one of my ultimate favorite songs for inspiration.  Though Nathan Ferraro doesn’t possess the same voice control as Peter, it’s still a beautiful version of the song.  It showcases LG’s voice and that even stripping away all of the dance beats and crazy costumes, she still has something special.  See the Lady Gaga version below, as well as the original and a few other covers of this great song.  The original has me picturing John Candy, riding in the train thru Chicago, reminiscing on all the great times he had with Steve Martin (remember the pillow incident?).  One of my favorites is still Maire Brennan (aka Enya’s sister) and Michael McDonald - unfortunately, it’s a hard one to find online.
